Farewell to Dave

Frankly speaking, last week was my 7th week in UM but it also was the most crazy week that I ever experienced in my varsity life.

  1. Last week, I skipped all my lectures and tutorial classes, but don’t worry, I already asked my trustful friend to sign my attendances.
  2. Last week, I had 3 papers to test, but honestly I didn’t study in serious manner, I just read through once only~~~~!!!!

Everything thanks to DEBATE!!!

On account of my great enthusiasm in Chinese debate, without any question, I took part in campus Chinese debate competition with some debatolic friends last fortnight. After two weeks struggled so hard, I eventually made ourselves in the last four, but unfortunately defeated by a stronger team after a deadly battle in the semi-final round. This is my first achievement in UM.

My team (the 4 guys with whites) and the blacks are our alliance, they will take revenge for us in the final.

Crazy thing: the semi-final round ended in Friday night but the next morning has a test even though was Saturday. The test was multiple choices but with 100 QUESTIONS. Oh my god. Then, that time I haven’t start my study even a page. So I had no choice and that time I was so exhausted after a week battle in debate field. POK!!! I just slept immediately.

What was happened in the next morning?!?!

I brought my AK47, then I shot and shot. Luckily some questions quite common sense to me, hopefully it won’t fail.

Secondly, I played footsal for my first time.

It definitely wasn’t a normal footsal match, it is because one of the players came from the ancestor land of modern football, he is very keen in his native football skill, that is English attacking-football style which have made a glorious reputation in the international football arena, he is my friend, he also called David…. Normally we call him Dave ~~~~

It was absolutely a cruel match, especially for those freshmen like me. In order to protect the face of a great Liverpool, I played very hard to fulfill a fan's duty.

Everyone chasing the ball, everyone trying to find the ball…… (why I used ‘find’???)

After an hour battle, my team finally defeated by Dave’s team, 5 to 8, and undeniably he was the best player of the game because 5 out of 8 goals of his team was contributed by his golden right leg 黄金右脚.

And now, I am suffering a severe muscle cramp on my both legs. Aaarrrrggghhhh…….

This month, august 2006 is really ‘international’ month, it is because of Dave and Todd. They made me feel that being ‘international’. Besides them, I also get know a lot of friends during the English class and alpha session, they are Pit Kai, Kelvin, William, Jun Hoe, Keng Yin, JR (came from The Philippines), Peng Fung, Pik Yu, Xiao Qian, Ching Siew etc etc… (sorry couldn’t mention all the names). It’s really like a family, thanks guys….

And lastly farewell to Dave, bon vayage and take care. Do remember to post some photos when you are in Australia. Ok, See you in England one day.

Lastly, make some advertisements:

Left one is my summer bed and the other one is my winter bed. (yeah~~~ my roommate left already, but quite miss him a lot, since I missed a chance to know more about Malay people)

My desk, very messy~~~~ and I am BEING watched!!!! Every room, every corner and some areas in UM compound are established with this CCTV surveillance system, but I think some of them are FAKE!!! Why am I saying so?? Because I saw 8 cctv in my tutorial classroom and this classroom twice smaller than our U6S2 classroom!!! It’s really incredible!!!!

My ‘ancient’ faculty….. both outside and inside are OLD!!!!

Same as last week, this week also very busy, every night has activities inside or outside the campus, made me really exhausted……

Ya, at first, I have a great experience that have to share with you guys, that is I attended a public lecture of a great world philosopher who came from Oxford University last Thursday. He is Frederick Antony Ravi Kumar Zacharias a.k.a. Ravi Zacharias, an Indian-American. I think some of you might know this man.

His speech was really impressive, I have to be honest to say that I only could understand 30% of his words, thanks to my poor English. But anyhow, I was still able to catch his core idea and gained a lot eventually. His topic was “The three great challenges to religion and society.” Well, what are challenges??? Ravi said: Secularization, Pluralization and Privatization. That’s all what I got from his 90 minutes speech. (the photo is not with me, so I will show you later)

Emm… the most memorable and touching event in this week is….. a farewell party of my first international friends, they are Todd and Dave~~~They will flight to their respective countries in these following days. (Todd guy already on board right now, and Dave is going on next week), time is flowing so fast and unperceptive~~~~

The farewell party was held outside campus:

Guys, guess what are they doing??!!?!

They were playing the MALAYSIA version’s FEAR FACTOR!!!!

That is eating a durian flesh~~~ (%#%#!$@#^)

Huh!!!!!! What’s the fear factor, it’s very easy!!!!!

But for mat salih, they rather jump from 88 storeys of KLCC than eat a small piece of durian fresh. You can observe it from their face. It all thanks to durian’s disgusting stinky smell. (in their points of nose) Hey, Todd and Dave, hoped no offensive to you guys :p

The Chinese saying: there never have a party that never end. 天下无不散之宴席Yeah, it’s right. It’s really heavy to say farewell to friend, but I believed that we will meet one day somewhere in the world, maybe in US or UK....

Last but not least: What is this??!?!??!

This is the most irrelevant subject for me. Tamadun islam and tamadun melayu (Islamic civilization and Malay civilization) this is a new syllabus of TITAS for current first year, it totally excluded all the tamadun asia. (Asian cilivization that including Chinese, Indian and Japanese civilization)

Why were they doing so??? Are they really think that 500 year-old Malay civilization is far more superior than 5000 year-old Chinese, Indian and Japanese civilization?!?!?! And what are the differences between the Islamic civilization and Malay civilization besides skin colour and language?!?!?! Is Malay civilization a civilization of Asian or Islamic?!?!? Is it more appropriate to use Malaysian civilization instead of Malay civilization?!?!?! Is it unfair to non-Malay Malaysian?!?!?

Guys, feel free to discuss this topic!!!! Never afraid of that AUKU!!!! Boon and Waijin, are you guys required to study Tamadun Singapura some kind of thing!?!?!?

Finally, I have nothing to say to that idiot prime minister of japan, Junichiro Koizumi, who prayed to those notorious war criminals of WWII at Yasukuni shrine during the 815 VJ day, the most sensitive day for Chinese and Korean. This time japan really missed the final chance for reconstructing the relationship with china and korea. Sigh, the road for japan is getting uneven.

Ok. Stop politic. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DEAR ZIZI!! Sorry this time bro couldn’t celebrate with you…. Emm…. Wait until September holidaylah~~~~~
